about

Eden is a pensive ballad written with one central question in mind – What if you were to treat your partner as you treat the environment? The song slowly breathes to life with dissonant chords steeped in powerful imagery surrounding humanity’s abusive relationship with the earth. The heavy subject matter is driven home with compelling horn ostinatos, liberating hooks and, of course, enthralling breakdown riffs.

lyrics

EDEN
Why’s we start a fire in paradise?
Scorch the Earth, skating on thin ice
So say your piece know that I’ve made mine
Choke on your words, fumes from your gaslight
//
Punctuate the elegant reasons to
Suffocate on smoke that we’re breathing so
Cultivate a garden of eden and burn in to the ground
//
Writing on the walls around us
Waiting for the fall to ground us
Take your time when you dig my grave
Gave up the ghost when you walked away
Footprints on the skies you pray to
Searching for a sign to save you
One foot in the grave
You walk away
You walk away
//
(I’m not one to run)
Don’t run away from the thought of this
(Keep me in your thoughts)
And keep me on your lips
Tip of the tongue there’s a toxic trace
Of all of our past mistakes
(I’m not one to run)
So keep me from my own grip
So tell me is it
//
Comfortable? The choice that we’re making?
Untouchable? The pining and aching?
Corruptible? The backs that we’re breaking? So
Punctuate the elegant reasons to
Suffocate on smoke that we’re breathing so
Cultivate a garden of eden and burn in to the ground
We’re burning it down
(There’s no time now)
//
Writing on the walls around us
Waiting for the fall to ground us
Take your time when you dig my grave
Gave up the ghost when you walked away
Footprints on the skies you pray to
Searching for a sign to save you
One foot in the grave
You walk away
One foot in the grave
You walk away
//
Take your time and wait to dig my grave
//
You never meant to
You never meant to
You never meant to take this all the way
Burn it down or stay
And it was never meant to end this way
But here we are again we make the same mistake
Walk away
//
Cause I thought you would remember
All the things we’ve weathered
So spark the funeral pyre
Why’d we start this fire?
//
Writing on the walls around us
Waiting for the fall to ground us
Take your time when you dig my grave
Gave up the ghost when you walked away
Footprints on the skies you pray to
Searching for a sign to save you
One foot in the grave
You walk away
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
//
I gave you everything I had to save you
One foot in the grave
You walk away
